EU CAP Network Seminar: Ensuring the Right to Stay for Young Farmers and Rural Youth

This seminar offers an opportunity to exchange on how to turn the EU Strategy for Generational Renewal into concrete actions at national and regional levels. It will foster dialogue, strengthen partnerships, and share good practices to address the real needs of rural youth and young farmers on the ground.

Europe’s rural areas face a major generational challenge: the average EU farmer is nearly 60, and only 12% are under 40. At the same time, one in three rural young people considers leaving due to limited opportunities, lack of services, and social isolation. To address this, the EU Strategy for Generational Renewal in Agriculture sets out a comprehensive framework to make farming and rural life more attractive for younger generations.

The EU CAP Seminar will translate this Strategy into concrete actions at national and regional levels, by promoting dialogue, strengthening partnerships, and sharing good practices to meet the needs of rural youth and young farmers.

To achieve this, the event will concentrate on priorities that drive change, including access to land, farm succession, skills and innovation, rural attractiveness, and youth as policy co-designers. Through plenary sessions and Youth-Led Policy Labs, participants will collaborate on practical solutions to help young people stay and thrive in rural Europe.

Please note that the event will be conducted in English, with no interpretation provided, and participation is free of charge.

Travel and accommodation costs related to the event may be covered by the organiser only for a limited number of participants representing farmers, farmer organisations, LEADER Local Action Groups, European and national non-governmental organisations, researchers/Universities.

All other participants (e.g. public authorities and institutions, National Networks, advisors etc.) will need to pay for their own travel and accommodation costs. Further information is provided in the registration form.
