Project summary

EU is aiming at promoting the use of bio energy. In the region of South-Ostrobothnia it is important to support the low-carbon, secure and digital food-chains that are profitable. Recently, high prices for electricity have decreased the profitability of the farms. The aim of the local EIP project is to develop a concept in which a farm-level heating plant using wood-chips can also produce electricity and utilize the produced CO2. Energy-wise South-Ostrobothnian farm –project will give added value for local farms by increasing the profitability and utilizing CO2 of heating plant. Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences is the project coordinator in 2024-2025. The EIP project application has been sent to CAP27 program for the Ely-Center of South-Ostrobothnia. Veljekset Ala-Talkkari Oy and Finnish Forest Center will join the project as well as PiPu Ky and the chicken farms of Kangas, Rantala and Kattelus. The dissemination of project results is important, and the results will be distributed via EIP-AGRI Network, among others.
