Vacancy for Rural Development
How can rural regions identify and activate their empty buildings for culture, creative work, and
community life? This first TRL online workshop dives into practical building mapping: why to
map, who to involve, what data to gather, and how to turn maps into decisions on stewardship,
reuse, and investment.
Designed for Local Action Groups (LAGs), municipalities, researchers,the session blends short
talks with concrete tools and examples. We will cover stakeholder engagement, qualitative and
quantitative data, simple workflows, and pathways to scale mapping from a pilot to a regional
approach.
Participants will learn to refine their own mapping process and gather data that supports permit
pathways, funding applications, and community buy-in.
